For some reason, it's believed that the only way to be effective in exercise is to push out a 45 minute, high-intensity workout. One where our legs feel like overdone noodles, and our hearts are racing towards the finish line. While these workout are great, it's not the only type of exercise our bodies can benefit from. Plus, we may not always have the time.
So, below are five benefits of a 15 minute walk outside:
Relieves Stress- Nature and fresh air has a calming affect. Walking outside can lower our stress hormone, cortisol, and increase the release of endorphins- which elevates our mood.
Boosts Immunity- Studies have shown that walking increases white blood cells, along with the intake of vitamin D
Cognitive Function- Walking increases blood flow throughout the body. This also enhances neural activity and stimulates the growth of new brain cells.
Energy Levels- by increasing blood circulation and oxygen within the body, our overall energy is increased
Weight Management- According to Harvard Health, a 15 minute walk can not only aid in burning calories, but it can curb cravings for sugary snacks.
I absolutely agree. Walking is my favorite exercise. This is the first exercise we ever did in life.
After talking or with talking, babies walked after a few months of crawling. As Christians, are some of us still crawling.
Thank you for this reminder! A 15 min walk is very doable! We gotta take care of our bodies, it’s the only one we have!
